They did it again. The CTA stepped in it this time, insulting a highschool girl for daring to write a letter critical of their donation to fight proposition 8. Board members replied, “It’s none of your business.”

I am speechless. Vandalism by our own school administrators caught on camera! Is there anyone who doesn’t believe there is a political motivation here in the schools? These are the people we’re trusting to teach our children tolerance in an unbiased way? No Way.

Elaina, love the name. This fight is about a lot of things. If you're from the Bay Area, I'm surprised you haven't heard of the Hayward incident at Faith Ringgold School of Art and Science. The things that fester in SF don't stay in SF. The parents there weren't given any notice about their Kindergartners being exposed to gay topics, and there was no option to opt out. The opposition to prop 8 told us we'd always be able to opt out. Yet here that right was taken away. It's time to take a stand now for traditional moral values. Enough degeneracy. How many of you supporters actually have kids in a Bay Area school district? And how many of you remember signing (or not signing) permission slips for just about every step your kid takes from her desk? Gay marriage isn’t going to change your parental rights in the least. You’ll still get to pick and choose your sheltered tot’s life experiences until everything is nicely pruned.
And for those of you so worried that your marriage is somehow soiled now that Frisco’s done the deed, maybe you should stop comparing yourselves to other couples. That’s what is really making your relationships suffer.

johnbesceglia: refer to my comment #84. This doesn’t qualify for a civil right. You can CHOOSE to control your passion. This is definitely not on the level of the Boston Tea Party either. Tell me john. Where do we draw the line on this deviancy? There are groups mobilizing as we speak using the same arguments you are using to get your “rights”. The man-boy-love movement of child abusers are going to want there rights. Hey they’re born that way they can’t help it. Then you have the animal “lovers” who get there kicks with animals. What about there “rights”? The line has to be drawn somewhere so why don’t we draw it where God draws it (and nature for that matter).

I sincerely hope PROP 8 fails miserably.

BUT – if it DOES passes, are my fellow LGBTI Americans prepared to spend another ba-zillion dollars on PR and possibly wait 20-30 years to “win” equality in CA?

AND – if it does NOT pass, which state will we focus on next so we can spend another ba-zillion dollars to purchase civil rights?

I know I am virtually alone here (except for Charles Merrill and his partner), but I think all of you are insane.

Because if ALL of us truly believed we WERE equal, we would not be so patient as tax-payers and U.S. citizens. We’d simply KNOW we ARE equal, and refuse to pay into a system that not only denies our familes civil marriage but doesn’t even acknowledge our existence (wait for the 2010 census).

I’m 43, and I will NOT wait until I’m 73 for fair and equal treatment. It’s OK for the country at large to be ignorant, bigoted, mid-guided, and mid-informed. But that’s not my fault. So until people GROW UP and show my family the same “civil” respect heterosexually-identified families are given, I owe this country and the IRS nothing.

How many times do I need to say this?

Dear Mr Sanchez,
It has been brought to my attention that you paid $1 million to a political issue – using valuable money that could have benefitted the people you are supposed to be supporting. What a shame. What a disgrace. How could you be so wasteful of resources that could have helped the teachers and in turn helped the children? The issue at hand does not warrant such reckless misappropriation of funds entrusted to your care. Shame on you. It’s almost criminal.

There are few of us who feel that people who care about each other shouldn’t be able to legally be involved in that life, Our schools do not force my religious beliefs on the students, why should the gay’s be forced on mine?
