Ha! these are great. Harvey Milk was no MLK. I love it. He wasn't either you know. He was divisive. We don't have a lot of holidays, what makes this guy stand out? His deviant sexuality? No thanks.

signab43,

Love the arrogance and assumption, but exclaiming "Hate!" on a crowded debate floor doesn't make you any points. What makes you think that a stance against Harvey Milk Day is a stance against homosexuals? Carry the logic through. Would you be prejudiced and intolerant if you disagreed with a day celebrating Jesus Christ or the Pope? How about Jay Leno Day?

In a constitution that values every human being there is equal protection for all those human beings, not just the ones who agree with you. Martin Luther King supported freedom for all, without qualifiers. Harvey Milk supported a limited agenda with his own definition of freedom that is against what most people believe. In putting one group's beliefs higher than another's, the essence of freedom is denied. That's not a quality worth celebrating universally.

How is a mandatory celebration of one person's extremist views an expression of freedom?

Yes, Harvey Milk was a pretty interesting guy. It's a great lesson in how prejudice and intolerance can be overcome by a Constitution that values every human being.

I love your shrine to Milk Hate. My favorite was the button of Milk in crosshairs that they were handing out at the AFM conference last November. Hopefully somebody will post that one.
