Family Values Blog Talk Radio

This Thursday Live at 2pm PST

On Thursday: Voice Of The Nation will be discussing the recent same-sex marriage changes that have happened in Iowa and Vermont this week as the number of states allowing same-sex marriages actually doubled in a matter of days!  Four states now allow same-sex marriages, is the tide of public support turning against family?  or is the system being usurped?  What’s the next step?

Guest Craig Benson will be joining us to talk about what happened in Vermont as the votes actually went down this week.  We lost the veto on Tuesday by one vote.  It was a close fight!.  Hear the inside scoop from the grass roots of Vermont this Thursday!

Craig Bensen is the President of Take It To The People, a Vermont Citizen Coalition for Traditional Marriage. His group has been working on this issue in Vermont since 1997.  Dr. Bensen is a local church pastor, businessman and political activist.

You have some very good guests on your show.

I know it can be a tedious task, but can you make available rough transcriptions, or at least a set of a few key quotations, for each of these kinds of interviews?

For example, I don’t think I’ve read anywhere the account given about the way the SSM lobbiests wangled and rushed this SSM merger through the legislative process.

Vermont does not provide an example of democracy in action for it actually illustrates how the judiciary imposed “civil union” (a localized merger with marriage in all but name) and how the peculiar sectarianism of identity politics imposed (through “bullying tactics”) the merger in name as well.

This example of Vermont highlights the similiarities with every other jurisdiction where SSM has been merged with marriage. Look at Canada, Holland, South Africa to name just a few prominent examples.

Anyway, a transcription or selection of quotations on this point would be a very good means of getting this message out to counter the pro-SSM campaign’s lionization of Vermont’s legislative “trail-blazing”.

That’s a good thought. I’m pretty well swamped today, but that would be an excellent resource to post as follow up. I imagine it would contribute to the understanding of what actually happened in Vermont. I’ll see what I can do!
