More Indoctrination? The “Story of Stuff” Debunked

Debunking The Story of Stuff

Glenn Beck: September 22, 2009

Indoctrination? Actually, the progressives are starting much younger these days…there is a video being played in schools all across America — that lays out the ‘story of stuff’ a loving, anti-capitalist tale that unfortunately has virtually no facts correct. Visit THIS site to watch the video (if you can stomach the entire thing) — when you are done, check out this thorough debunking of the video, in which the commentator investigates the footnotes used in the ‘story of stuff’ video.

I’ll be honest, I could barely get through 30 seconds of EITHER video! This woman is so full of leftist party line that I couldn’t even stand to listen! Unbelievable that they are actually showing this in schools! This really gives more meaning to the term “the constitution will hang by a thread”…..

You know there were several parts of the video I actually agreed with later on, but the conclusions she draws are not right, and the solutions she proposes are not the only solutions, or the best solutions out there. Those are the subtle (and not so subtle) differences kids are just not sophisticated or experienced enough to be able to pick out on their own. If parents want to show this to their kids because it’s what THEY believe, that’s one thing, but to have the schools show it is quite another.

As well as being thoroughly distorted in the attempt to push an idealogy, in many places, it’s not even factually correct.

Yeah, that was crazy. I watched her version first. And found myself agreeing with some ideas, but like you said, Beetle, she seemed to arrive at faulty conclusions or non-solutions, and sometimes even blatantly perpetuated falsehoods for the sake of her personal agenda.

And way to make kids afraid to sleep with a pillow or drink a juice box! Sheesh. Who are the real fear-mongers?!

I wholeheartedly agree with the critic. Get this video out of our schools!

I’m increasingly relieved to be homeschooling my children.
